Excelitas Technologies seals HQ deal in Pittsburgh Strip District.

Excelitas Technologies Corp., a photonics technology company, has announced plans to relocate its headquarters from Massachusetts to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company has signed a 12-year lease for up to 50,000 square feet of space in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, which has become a hub for robotics and innovation. The future headquarters location is part of Oxford Development Co.’s 3 Crossings project and is expected to open by early summer. The CEO of Excelitas Technologies, Ron Keating, praised the Pittsburgh region for its high-technology presence, strong work ethic, and supportive local leadership.

Pittsburgh has become a popular destination for tech companies due to its strong talent pipeline from institutions like Carnegie Mellon University. Other notable tech companies that have established offices in the Strip District include Honeywell, Aspinity, Aurora Innovation, Bosch, and Petuum. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro sees Excelitas Technologies’ move as a positive sign that western Pennsylvania is becoming a national hub for life sciences and advanced manufacturing. Pittsburgh has also been recognized as one of the top cities for tech and women in STEM employment in the northeastern United States, as well as an attractive location for Gen Z workers.
